After a hard decicion about not going to the ice climbing festival this year since it was postphoned one week due to lack of conditions we head to the west part of the country. Best days of our trip were in Seydisfjordur mid week after wet days before. On wednesday we climbed a new route, ElGrillo WI4+ ~90meters in the mt. Strandatindur just east of the town in Seydisfjordur. A nice obvious route high in the mountains of the fjord.+ Read article 0 comments

We are on a road trip around Iceland looking for ice to climb. Also some new routes - mixed and ice. We went to Akureyri for the weekend and did not climb that much due to the weather. However we managed to climb some ice in Munkathverargil in Eyjafjordur wich is mainly a rock climbing area but on the east side there is wet rock covered with ice in the winter. After the cold beginning of the week we were anxious to get some ice climbing action. We have been waiting since august for some below zero temperature and its about time. A climbing contest was held in Reykjavik in a new tower in Hofdatorg by the climbing association and the house owners on cultural night of Reykjavik 2009.
Sadly we did not participate in the competition and I am really quite embarrassed we did not. This was very fun and nice. I got up to the roof above the climbers and shot a lot.+ Read article 1 comments

We had been waiting for this event for a very long time since we missed the last festival last year.
